Maternus in Bonn

You can go here with a clear conscience with the thought that you can't do better at home. Although I don't even live in Bonn, I went to Maternus several times. The ambience is rustic and pleasant. The dishes are of a high standard. Of course, there may be little things here and there that are not so perfect. But these are forgivable. The prices are great in relation to the performance. E.g. the Wiener Schnitzel costs 19.50 €. But you get a decent portion for this, the crust is wavy and yet very crispy, therefore not nearly a reason for complaint. The owner now knows what I would like to eat and drink and if the bill is 50 euros or more in the end, I don't cry a cent.

Top goose breast menu. Very friendly service. Portion was unfortunately too much for us. We got the 2nd course well packaged to take home with us. The boss (cook) brought him personally to give us tips on how to heat the oven correctly. Pleasant atmosphere, can only be recommended.

Very tasty food, sometimes something unusual creations. But it is a little more expensive than the average.

Dinner was really, really good. The location was stunning only the waitress (maybe also the boss) was a bit rough and unfriendly. Probably had a bad day. But the other waiter made up for it.

We just ate very delicious here. The service is very attentive and nice. The quality of the dishes is high. The zabaione is freshly prepared at the table and really gets a special note with the Tasmanian mountain pepper. Thank you very much. We love to come back :-)

Spacious enclosures, 3 themed areas with circular routes. Alaska with (polar) bears, moose, beavers, sea lions, etc. was particularly successful.

A restaurant with good home cooking in the center of Bad Godesberg. It is one of the places where politicians and diplomats from the Bonn Republic used to meet. The decor is traditional, the ambience pleasantly calm and perfect for good conversations while eating. The menu offers traditional German dishes but also salads, pasta, etc. The prices are ok, the staff very friendly. The food of good quality. Unfortunately, one of the dishes was too salty, but it was exchanged immediately. The second time it still was a little too salty (and we tend to eat spicy and relatively salty!). Nevertheless, the other dishes were good, so we will certainly give the place a second chance, since we liked the calm atmosphere.

Highly recommended, friendly staff and tasty food. Will not be the last visit !!!!

One of those pearls that will hopefully never disappear! If I did not live in the vicinity, an evening in the atmosphere of this shop from another time would be well worth the trip, because everything is just right!

A very fast service, even if the house is well filled. On certain occasions, special treats are served, and at very fair prices. A reservation is very beneficial here. The kitchen here is very traditional and very varied. Also in the wine offer will probably find something

Just returned. Had a wonderful dinner there with colleagues. Not a cheap place, but a place to remember. You do have to try the Zabaione.
